What is Voice activity detection (VAD)?
Voice activity detection, or VAD, is the part of a voice system that decides whether someone is speaking or silent at any moment. It tells the agent when the caller has started talking, so it can stop, and when they have stopped, so it can reply.
Why Voice activity detection (VAD) matters for Telugu calling
It underlies barge-in and turn-taking. A detector that is too sensitive treats background noise as speech and cuts the agent off; one that is too slow makes every reply late.
Phone lines are noisy, so detection tuned in a quiet room can fail on a real call.
How to measure or improve it
Test on noisy lines and with quiet speakers.
- Play background noise and check the agent does not stop.
- Speak softly and check it still hears you.
- Check the delay before it decides you have finished.
Pay for connected call time only.
EnableCalls runs on a prepaid credit wallet. One credit is one rupee, credits are used only while a call is connected and answered, and unanswered, busy or failed attempts cost nothing. Rates are set per account, so we do not print a fixed figure here.

03Can it be tuned?
