What is Telugu dialects?
Telugu dialects are the regional ways Telugu is spoken, most visibly the Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema varieties. They differ in vocabulary, pronunciation, rhythm and the amount of English or Urdu mixed in, so a greeting that sounds natural in one place can sound slightly off in another.
Why Telugu dialects matters for Telugu calling
A voice agent that sounds foreign to the region loses trust quickly. A Warangal caller and a Vijayawada caller may use different words for the same thing.
Dialect also affects recognition. A recogniser trained mostly on one variety can mishear another, especially on names and place names.
How to measure or improve it
Do not accept a claim of dialect support on faith. Test with callers or recordings from the region you serve.
- Ask a native speaker from the target region to call the demo.
- Include local place names and common local phrases.
- Compare how the agent handles a Telangana and an Andhra phrasing of the same request.
An example
A Telangana caller might ask "రేపు వీలవుతదా?" while an Andhra caller might say "రేపు వీలవుతుందా?". Both mean: is tomorrow possible?
