What is Telugu code-switching?
Telugu code-switching is the everyday habit of moving between Telugu and English, sometimes inside a single sentence. On a business call it sounds like a Telugu sentence with an English rate, appointment or time in the middle. A voice agent has to treat it as one thought.
Why Telugu code-switching matters for Telugu calling
Code-switching is the default on business calls, not a corner case. Callers say the amount, the product or the time in English because that is how they have always said it, and they carry on in Telugu.
A system that expects one language per turn either misses the English word or loses the rest of the sentence. The caller then has to repeat, and the call starts to feel mechanical.
How to measure or improve it
Test with sentences that switch mid-way, not clean Telugu. Include numbers, place names and times in English inside Telugu grammar, and check that each is captured and repeated back correctly.
- Say a price and a time in English inside a Telugu sentence.
- Switch to English for a whole turn, then return to Telugu.
- Check that the transcript keeps the English words as spoken.
An example
"రేపు evening appointment కావాలి" (I need an appointment tomorrow evening) contains Telugu words for tomorrow and need, and the English words evening and appointment.
Pay for connected call time only.
EnableCalls runs on a prepaid credit wallet. One credit is one rupee, credits are used only while a call is connected and answered, and unanswered, busy or failed attempts cost nothing. Rates are set per account, so we do not print a fixed figure here.
